From Wrenching to Racing: Royal Enfield's BTR Program and Motul Create Next-Gen Competitors

The grid at a MotoAmerica race weekend is always electric, but there is a distinct, motivating energy buzzing around Royal Enfield’s Build, Train, Race (BTR) road racing paddock.

This groundbreaking program brings ten women from a range backgrounds, hands them a stock Royal Enfield Continental GT 650, and tasks them with an extraordinary challenge: build your own race bike, train under road racing legend Freddie Spencer, and compete on the United States' premier tracks. It is an unprecedented gateway for bringing new competitors into the sport of motorcycle racing.

Among this year’s standout riders is Karina Simoes, a Brazilian journalist, marketing agency owner, and 40-year-old mother of four who is proving that passion knows no borders or age limits.

"This program allows me to make a dream come true, I think it can inspire other girls from so many ages.”

A Dream Built by Hand
For Karina, joining the two-year program meant completely uprooting her routine, enduring long flights from Brazil, and confronting the daunting task of building her own machinery. "They gave me a bike... and said 'pick up your bike and start working on it. You have five days to make this a track bike,'" Karina recalls in an interview in the paddock at Road America in late May.

Wrenching on her own machine created an unbreakable bond between rider and motorcycle. Under the watchful eye of Freddie Spencer, Karina has seen her lap times drop, gaining immense confidence with every round. "This program allows me to make a dream come true," she says. "I think it can inspire other girls from so many ages.”

Uncompromising Performance: Powered by Motul
When you are diving into corners at high speeds on iconic tracks like Road America, the last thing a racer should worry about is mechanical anxiety. That is where Motul comes in. As an official sponsor of the BTR program, Motul provides the critical engineering support these women need.

For Karina, the partnership is a homecoming. A self-professed "heavy user" of Motul products in Brazil, she was thrilled to see the brand on the BTR grid. "I’m super happy that they joined us this year for the program and that I can use the best oil," Karina shares. "We have chosen Motul during our lives because we knew that the products were amazing.”

With Motul’s advanced lubricants in their engines, the BTR racers never have to worry about oil degradation, thermal breakdown, or friction-related power loss. They can focus entirely on hitting their apexes, trusting that their engines are fully protected under the most grueling track conditions.

Through the Build, Train, Race program, Royal Enfield and Motul aren't just sponsoring a series, they are actively expanding the paddock, proving that with the right grit, expert mentorship, and premium lubrication, anyone can transition from the garage to the racetrack.
