01/26/2026
The 2026 IMSA WeatherTech Sports Car Championship kicked off at the 64th annual Rolex 24 at Daytona in front of yet another record crowd. Motul, a long-time IMSA technical partner, was on hand supporting IMSA teams with the Oil Lab, providing valuable technical feedback in the days leading up to the race. The Motul Oil Lab enables teams to provide oil samples that are analyzed on-site, measuring over 30 variables which then are translated into valuable performance insights giving teams a competitive technical advantage. Motul also engaged with IMSA’s STEM program participants, highlighting Motul’s technical involvement with over 30 local high school students.
On the track, Motul launched a record number of team technical partnerships for the 2026 season with 17 cars across the LMP2, GTD Pro and GTD classes. Numerous OEMs were represented within the GTD ranks including Aston Martin, Chevrolet, Ferrari, Ford, Lamborghini and Porsche showcasing the strong technical advantages that Motul products bring across multiple platforms. Partner teams utilized Motul engine oil, gear oil and brake fluid along with the brand's numerous car care offerings.
When the green flag flew on Saturday, January 24, the competitive spirit of the drivers showed quickly with numerous incidents within the first hour of racing. The race quickly settled but as the sun set, the fog rolled in leading to a 6-hour full course yellow until the fog lifted shortly after 7am on Sunday morning. This led to a 6-hour sprint to the finish which saw many Motul partnered teams in the hunt for the most sought-after prize in motorsports, the Rolex Daytona.
When the dust settled after 24 hours and 705 laps of racing, Motul powered cars achieved 4 podium places, including a sweep of the LMP2 podium with Crowdstrike Racing by APR taking the top step and the 2 Inter Europol Competition entries taking 2nd and 3rd place. In GTD, the Magnus Racing Vantage GT3 Evo had an intense late race battle for 1st place but ran out of time and took the 2nd step on the podium.
The Rolex 24 was the first of 5 Michelin Endurance Cup events for the 2026 season with the second coming in March at the 12 Hours of Sebring, before heading to Watkins Glen and finishing at the Motul Sportscar Endurance Grand Prix at Road America and the Motul Petit Le Mans at Road Atlanta.
Motul will continue to support the IMSA WeatherTech Sports Car Championship and selected teams as a technical partner throughout the 11 race 2026 IMSA WeatherTech Sports Car Championship.
